HSC FEBRUARY 2022 LEGISLATIVE UPDATE


HSC Supports Chronic Wasting Disease Research and Management Act

Houston Safari Club joined other conservation organizations in supporting the passage of H.R. 5608, the Chronic Wasting Disease Research and Management Act. In a letter to Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman, U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry, and John Boozman, Ranking Member, U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry, the alliance pointed out that Chronic Wasting Disease, or CWD, is a crisis that threatens the future of hunting in North America and the health of deer, elk, and moose populations.

HSC Addresses House National Resource Committee About Recovering America’s Wildlife Act, H.R. 2773

Houston Safari Club joined other conservation organizations to express their thanks to the House Natural Resource Committee for providing a hearing and vote for H.R. 2773. This legislation would amend the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act to make supplemental funds available for the management of fish and wildlife species of greatest conservation need as determined by State fish and wildlife agencies, and for other purposes.
