Instructor: US Navy SEAL, Miguel Yanez, Ret.

Miguel3

Miguel is the creator and Director of Athena Gun Club’s Athena Development Program (ADP). Miguel has extensive experience in national security matters, counter-terrorism operations, international diplomacy and training of military, civilian and law enforcement personnel.

Before Athena, Miguel served as a Naval Commando in the United States Navy as a SEAL. The United States Navy’s Sea, Air and Land Teams, commonly known as the Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy’s principal special operations force and a part of the Naval Special Warfare Command and United States Special Operations Command.

Miguel took part in multiple special, covert operations across the globe from protecting the interim and newly elected Prime Ministers and Presidents of Iraq to combating Central and South American terror cells.

Miguel has trained allied personnel in various aspects of asymmetrical warfare with zero loss of equipment and/or personnel. Whether it is something as simple as firearms training for recruits or as complex as training leaders to conduct multi-jurisdictional interoperability “red-cell” operations, Miguel delivers a superb product.

Before joining the Navy SEAL Teams Miguel was a commissioned officer in the Houston Police Department (HPD).  Miguel served the citizens of Houston as a Patrol Officer on the Special Response Group and the Hostage Negotiators Bilingual Team. A highlight of Miguel’s career with HPD was his time as Lead Undercover Officer with the Major Offender’s Division. His team conducted operations against major international crime syndicates.

Currently, Miguel sits on the board of two international conglomerates whose businesses are focused on strategic business alliance building, personnel placement in the energy and non-capital security markets of Latin America, transnational partnership alignment, political consulting, support of democratic governance, capital market modernization, country development and the promotion of peace and security.
