Bush School Capstone Project – Wildfire Response and Mitigation Project with the Texas A&M Forest Service

My name is Ray Edwards and I am a second-year graduate student in a five year program with both the department of Wildlife and Fisheries Science and Conservation and the department of public service and administration in a program designed to get people trained in wildlife conservation fully integrated into the world of public policy. This year, instead of a true thesis, I have been selected to work on a large, diverse team to create a capstone project that is created for the client selected by the guiding professor: the Texas A&M Forest Service. Currently, we are not completely sure what the specifics of the project include, but we are aware of the generalities. To begin with, we will assist the Forest Service in their mission to help Texans prepare, prevent, and recover from the impacts of wildfires. This could potentially include assistance in the field of asset management, financial advising, or the creation and implementation of new programs and managerial practices. I am looking forward to being a part of this year-long research project and am happy to discuss it further!
