The MOU signifies a collaborative partnership between the organizations to advance conservation goals and benefit sportsmen and women. The Ashby Bowhunting Foundation’s goal is to provide the bowhunter with the information to achieve highest possible success rate and reduce the wound/non-recovery rate of big game to the lowest level possible. “Ashby Bowhunting Foundation is excited and honored to enter into a MOU with HSCF, a leading conservation organization whose mission is to preserve the sport of hunting through education, conservation and the promotion of our hunting heritage. (Houston, TX- June 19, 2020) Houston Safari Club Foundation fully supports the passage of the Great American Outdoors Act. The U.S. Senate has passed the landmark conservation legislation introduced by U.S. Senators Cory Gardner (R-CO), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Steve Daines (R-MT), Rob Portman (R-OH), Mark Warner (D-VA), Angus King (I-ME), Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), and 51 other Senate members. The Great American Outdoors Act fully funds the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) at a level of $900 million every year and addresses the approximately $20 billion maintenance backlog on federal public lands. This critical legislation will help rebuild our national park infrastructure and address the more than $12 billion backlog in long-delayed maintenance projects throughout the U.S. park system while supporting more than 100,000 jobs over the next five years. CSF, along with other conservation organizations, recently launched the ResponsibleRecreation campaign as an effort to encourage Americans to responsibly enjoy outdoor recreation while adhering to COVID-19 public health practices and natural resource stewardship principles. Whether participating in hunting, fishing, recreational shooting or other outdoor opportunities, these activities support mental and physical well-being while social distancing and are a great way to enjoy the outdoors during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. (Houston, TX- June 8, 2020) Houston Safari Club Foundation as part of its effort to support the future of hunting, shooting sports and conservation, recently awarded $26,500 in grants.  Grants were provided to support Children’s Kingdom Ministries/Wild Wishes, an organization that grants wildlife encounters to children with a critical illness or loss of a parent or sibling. This program hosts teens on expeditions to teach wildlife conservation through mentorship in wildlife photography, social media awareness raising and fundraising skills. Another grant was provided to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to help restore desert grasslands for the benefit of mule deer and other wildlife species. HSCF also funded the Zambeze Delta Safaris Conservation group of Mozambique by purchasing much needed motorcycles for their anti-poaching/conservation unit patrols.
