Mike Boone
Mike Boone has served with the Texas Game Wardens for 28 years. Originally from Magnolia, Texas, Boone earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University in 1991 and completed the Texas Game Warden academy in 1992. He has been stationed in Hardin County since 1993. Boone is actively involved with various community relations and youth outdoor activities and has previously received the Mid-Western Officer of the Year and Shakar Safari Officer of the Year Awards. He is currently active as a cast member with the popular TV show Lone Star Law.

Austin Taylor
Austin Taylor joined Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation (TPWF) in May 2015. Austin is the Program Manager for TPWF’s Gear Up for Game Wardens program. He serves as the primary liaison between TPWF and the Leadership Council communicating updates, coordinating regional activities by co-chairs, and facilitating fundraising events across the state. Additionally, Austin collaborates with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Law Enforcement staff regarding priority equipment needs, purchases and final delivery of equipment.
Founded in 1991, Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation is the official nonprofit partner of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. The mission of TPWF is to support TPWD to ensure that all Texans, today and in the future, can enjoy the wild things and wild places of Texas. TPWF secures funding for transformational projects supported by sound science with measurable results and meaningful impact that would not be possible without the support of generous funders. Since its inception, TPWF has raised more than $205 million to advance Texas’ proud outdoor traditions and conserve our state’s lands, waters, and wildlife. In recent years, TPWF has funded significant projects such as restoring the iconic pool at Balmorhea State Park, repairing fish hatcheries and research vessels devastated by Hurricane Harvey, and acquiring the stunning 17,351-acre Powderhorn Ranch in Calhoun County.
In October 2017, TPWF, along with a dedicated group of citizens, launched Gear Up for Game Wardens. As a program of TPWF, Gear Up for Game Wardens is raising funds to ensure that Texas’ 550 game wardens have access to specialized equipment beyond their standard-issue gear. Since the program began, more than $1.7 million has been raised for priority equipment needs that help game wardens maintain safety and ensure the highest level of service for the people of Texas.
