Houston, TX – Houston Safari Club (HSC) has provided a grant to The NRA Foundation in support of their Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) program.

The grant was specifically provided through HSC’s affiliate organization, The American Conservation and Education Society (ACES). The donation, in the amount of $10,000, will be used to help promote the expansion of the YHEC program. The YHEC program has reached an estimated 15,000 young hunters annually since its inception in 1985. In addition, the funding provided by Houston Safari Club will support the development of trained volunteer mentors for the program.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) is the state agency that regulates all phases of the alcoholic beverage industry in Texas.

The TABC has proposed amendments to Administrative Rule 36.1, relating to the Possession and Sale of Firearms on Licensed Premises. Licensed Premises is loosely defined as any venue at which TABC has authorized the sale or consumption of alcohol. This includes the Woodlands Waterway Marriott, The Houston Racquet Club, and any public facility that holds a TABC liquor license. Of particular interest is proposed subsection (c) of Rule Administrative 36.1 which references the rules dealing with certain firearms sales, firing ranges and gun shows at on-premises locations.

Houston, TX – Houston Safari Club (HSC) is pleased to announce its partnership with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) as a title sponsor of the Texas Bass, Bucks and Boots event.

This regional event brings together state legislators and members of the sportsmen’s community to enjoy an evening of camaraderie and discuss the future of America’s hunting and angling traditions. The occasion will take place September 25th in Houston, TX.

In addition, Houston Safari Club is providing support for the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation’s 25th Banquet & Auction, to be held September 10th in Washington, D.C. This annual event provides an opportunity for the outdoor sporting community, supporters and friends of CSF to recognize the tremendous work of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) in keeping sportsmen and women in the field and on the water. At the Annual Banquet & Auction, leaders of the sportsmen’s conservation community meet and interact with members of the CSC and thank them for their efforts in protecting and advancing hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping on Capitol Hill.

Betar will be responsible for Houston Safari Club’s management, member relations, programs, and external relationships. He will also serve as the Executive Director of HSC’s charitable arm, the American Conservation and Education Society (ACES), and as Executive Editor of its publications, Hunter’s Horn and Bush Telegraph.

The scores have been tallied, the auctions won, and the guns cleaned – it is safe to say that the Third Annual HSC Shoot for the Troops was by far the most successful ever. Three 350 shooters from near and far converged on the manicured lawn of the Greater Houston Gun Club to participate in the largest sporting clays tournament ever hosted on the grounds. The balmy spring day began smothered in thick blanket of coastal fog, but quickly brightened as the mid morning sun burned it away.
