(HOUSTON, TX – July 14, 2026) The Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) is proud to announce the latest episode of its award-winning Hunting Matters podcast featuring Taylor Daily, Coordinating Wildlife Biologist with Quail Forever and the Oaks & Prairies Joint Venture, and a proud alumnus of the HSCF–Dan L Duncan Scholarship Program.
Daily’s appearance on the podcast is a testament to the lasting impact of HSCF’s investment in the next generation of conservation leaders. As a former Dan L Duncan Scholarship recipient, Daily has built a career dedicated to restoring native Texas grasslands, advancing wildlife conservation, and collaborating with private landowners to improve habitat for quail, grassland birds, pollinators, and countless other native species.
A graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management and Sul Ross State University with a master’s degree in Range & Wildlife Management, Daily now serves landowners across nine counties in North Texas by developing science-based habitat management plans that promote healthy, resilient native ecosystems. His work places a special emphasis on prescribed fire, one of the most effective, and often misunderstood, tools available for restoring native prairie landscapes.
During the episode, Daily discusses the alarming decline of native temperate grasslands, now considered among the world’s most endangered terrestrial ecosystems, and explains why their conservation is critical to the future of wildlife, hunting, ranching, and outdoor recreation.
Listeners will also learn about:
- The role of prescribed fire in restoring healthy landscapes.
- The importance of native grassland management for quail and other wildlife.
- Conservation planning for private landowners.
- The Oaks & Prairies Joint Venture’s Grassland Restoration Incentive Program (GRIP).
- Cost-share and financial assistance programs available to landowners interested in improving wildlife habitat.
- The vital role private landowners play in conserving Texas’ natural resources.
The conversation also explores how hunting, conservation, and responsible land management work together to ensure healthy wildlife populations and sustainable habitats for future generations.
