STEVE CRAWFOD RECEIVES 2026 HSCF OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN HUNTING AWARD: MALE

Houston, TX – Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) proudly announces Steve Crawford as the recipient of the 2026 Outstanding Achievement in Hunting Award: Male, presented at the 2026 Houston Safari Club Foundation Worldwide Hunting Expo & Convention.

The Outstanding Achievement in Hunting Award: Male recognizes exceptional accomplishments in big game hunting by a male hunter who exemplifies ethical hunting standards, conservation-minded values, and active support of HSCF’s mission. Eligible recipients must have harvested at least 75 species across four continents, be 19 years of age or older, maintain active HSCF membership in good standing, and demonstrate a history of leadership in conservation, education, and the advancement of hunting.

Steve Crawford’s lifelong dedication to ethical hunting and conservation places him among the most accomplished sportsmen recognized by HSCF. He began big game hunting in 1992 and has since pursued 109 species across five continents, including North America (49), South America (14), Africa (44), Europe (1), and Asia (1)—a record that reflects both the breadth and difficulty of his hunting achievements.

Crawford joined the Houston Safari Club in 1995, became a Life Member in 2001, and joined Safari Club International (SCI) in 1997. His hunting accomplishments have earned significant international recognition, including 14 SCI Inter-Circle awards and multiple discipline-specific honors such as Global Hunting Award (Gold), Multiple Methods (Gold), Animals of South America (Diamond), Predators of the World (Diamond), and Top Ten Award (Diamond). He has entered 124 species into the SCI Record Book, with 21 ranking in the world’s Top 10, including seven #1 entries.

Beyond his achievements in the field, Crawford has made lasting contributions to HSCF through extensive volunteer leadership and service. He has served three terms on the HSC Board of Directors (2000–2004; 2012–2014), completed two terms as Convention Chairman (2002 and 2003), and founded both the Corporate Sponsor Committee and the Convention Sponsor Committee. He also created the HSC Sporting Clay Shoot to support corporate sponsorship initiatives and has served on or chaired numerous committees, including Hunting Awards, Finance, Silent Auction, Table Sales, and Shoot for the Troops. In 2004, he was honored with the HSC Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of his service and accomplishments.

Professionally, Steven Crawford is a distinguished leader in the commercial construction industry, bringing more than 40 years of technical expertise and executive experience to his role as Chief Executive Officer of Comanche Contractors. Born in Baytown, Texas, he is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design (1976) and a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction (1977). Over his career, he founded S.L. Crawford Construction, co-founded Mohle/Crawford Design/Build, and in 2017 acquired Comanche Contractors, where he now leads strategic growth, operational excellence, and project delivery across diverse commercial sectors.

Crawford is also a Life Member of Safari Club International, the NRA, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and the National Sporting Clays Association, as well as a member of Quail Unlimited and Ducks Unlimited, and a founding board member of the Tom Ford Foundation.

He is the proud father of Alex Crawford and Wyatt Beauchamp and married Kashay Crawford in 2022. He remains deeply committed to his family, his profession, and the continued advancement of ethical hunting and conservation.
