James Lofton has spent the last 25 years as an ambassador for the hunting and shooting sports. In addition to being a member of HSC, he is a Benefactor Member of the NRA, a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club as well as a member of the Congressional Sportsman Foundation and Gun Owners of America, among others. He has a passion for introducing new hunters to our sport and preserving our hunting and gun rights. James is eager to put his skills and passion to work for the HSCF.

James has a history of volunteering and leading charity events and groups. He was the founder and chairman of the DFW Oilman’s Tactical Shoot from 2009-2017, which donated proceeds to support military and veteran’s groups such as Combat Marine Outdoors. CMO takes purple heart recipients on hunting and fishing trips as part of their recovery process. Sharing a camp with these hero’s is one of the highlights of James’ hunting experiences. James also was the Chairman of the Shoot from the Heart Brazos Valley Sporting Clays Tournament from 2004-2007.

After graduating from Texas A&M, James spent the last 28 years in the oil and gas industry. He is a managing partner of JAN Resources, LLC, an oilfield service company that specializes in water treating and completion chemicals. He was a member of the FW SPE Board of Directors for 5 years, serving as President and Scholarship Chairman during that time. James and his wife Kathryn (HSCF Member also) were fortunate to win the bid on several of the hunts and items sold at the HSCF Annual Convention dinners and Gazelle’s Luncheon auctions, including 2 safaris in Namibia which they completed in the summer of 2019. He was also able to share this hunt with his father, who was instrumental in starting James’ passion for hunting. James learned from his father, that the woods, prairies, mountains, lakes and rivers we all enjoy are a great place to teach others about life lessons and gain an appreciation for the outdoors.

Monica’s life motto has always been “You can’t just take from society, you also have to give back.” which she does through her commitment and involvement with Houston Safari Club, Houston Safari Club Foundation, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and other organizations.

Monica has been a member of HSC since 2007. She has served as HSCF vice president (2014-2015), member of the Gazelles committee (2010-present), chair of the convention merchandising booth (2016), HSCF membership committee (2009-2011), board of directors (2016-2018, 2018-2020), co-chairman of YWCE (2019), HSC/HSCF Secretary (2019-2022) and currently as HSCF Director (2021-2023).

Monica is a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and has been a committee volunteer for 26 years.  Monica is currently serving on the Breeders Greeters and Ranching & Wildlife Committees. She is also a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and Texas Women on the Wing,

Monica has been with Halliburton for 30 years and is Proposal Manager at Boots & Coots, a sub-product service line of Halliburton.  As an avid huntress, her favorite place to hunt is South Africa, which she considers to be her home away from home!  Monica also enjoys spending time with her family, fishing, reading, photography, rodeos, and traveling.  Monica loves mentoring other women and youth to fall in love with the outdoors by encouraging them to try hunting and fishing activities.

Retired from Enterprise Products Company, Rudy splits his time between clearing cedar on his ranch in the Hill Country and hunting across North and South America, Africa, and New Zealand with bow, rifle, and shotgun. He’s been a member of HSCF for over 20 years, serving a second term as VP and on the Board of Directors from 2008 to 2021. Currently, he serves on the HSCF/DLD Scholarship committee. Luckily married to Mackenzie, he is the father and father-in-law to Laurie-Leigh and Trey White.

JD Burrows has been a member of HSC since 2008, and has served as a volunteer on several committees. Serving on the Membership Committee from 2010 to 2012, he had the pleasure of working the Convention floor and signing up new members. Having learned so much about the Club while signing up new members, he decided to take on a more prominent role in 2013. He served as Director, Grants Committee Chairman, and was Silent Auction Chairman for 2014. Most recently, he served as the HSCF President from 2019-2020. He and his wife Angie are also Hunting Awards Sponsors and Gazelles sponsors.

In professional capacity, JD serves as the Vice President of Marketing for ENGIE, a leading global energy company, and is responsible for branding, public relations, market analytics and pricing strategies.

Carl is currently President of Eureka Energy Advisors, LLC. The company provides subject matter experts with a variety of technical and management expertise to clients in all aspects of upstream project development, well control, risk management, production optimization and final field abandonment. He retired from Halliburton in 2019 after a career of 34 years. At retirement, Carl was the Global Operations Manager for Boots & Coots Well Control responsible for supporting and managing the company’s Global Well Control, Prevention, and Special Services groups. Prior to that position, he headed up the dedicated Relief Well Operations Team and later the Well Control Engineering Group. Before joining Boots & Coots, Mr. Cramm managed the Halliburton Integrated Services group managing multi rig / multi well projects. His experience also includes 21 years of global experience with Sperry Drilling Services LWD / Directional Drilling culminating as Sperry’s Middle East / North Africa / Eurasia Regional Manager before joining Halliburton’s Management Team.

Carl holds Bachelor of Science Degrees from Texas A&M U. in Agriculture Economics and Petroleum Engineering, an Associate Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, and is a 2003 Graduate of the Halliburton President’s Seminar. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, and is a member of SPE and AADE. In addition, Mr. Cramm has authored and co-authored numerous technical papers and shares in seven patents for well control technology.

Married to Holli Diane Cramm, P.E. for 34 years, they met while studying Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M. They have one son, Carl “CJ” Cramm IV, who works for Mustang Cat in Beaumont where he is the Product Support Manager. As a family, they are active in car racing. Currently, their Cramm Motorsports race team participates in the Trans Am Pro racing series, Sports Car Club of America, and the National Auto Sport Association. Their company, Cramm Motorsports, provides trackside support, fabrication and car preparation to amateur racers.

A member of Houston Safari Club Foundation since 2018, Carl has volunteered at the Annual HSCF Convention for the past 3 years providing logistics support. Most recently he served as the Convention Exhibitor Logistics Chair at the 2023 convention.

Carl first engaged in shooting sports in his early teen years. Trained by NRA certified instructors, he attained Expert or Distinguished Expert classification in the four primary shooting positions and regularly participated in the NRA summer postal matches. Shooting engagement ebbed and flowed through the years as his global oilfield career allowed. Once settled back stateside hunting re-gained a position in Carl’s list of “activities and pursuits”. Upland bird (pheasant and quail) and Texas White tail have dominated his hunting focus. Among the Texas trophies are several White Tail Bucks harvested on the Norias and Santa Gertrudis Divisions of the King Ranch and an SCI Gold Class Nilgai taken on the King Ranch Encino Division. Most recently (summer 2022), Carl traveled to South Africa for his first International Hunt. Trophies harvested during the SA hunt included an SCI Silver medal class Cape Buffalo, an SCI Bronze class Nyala and Bushbuck. He will return to South Africa this summer to continue the “The Hunt”.

Jeff is a Life Member of the Houston Safari Club Foundation and a second-term member of the Board of Directors. He has been honored to serve our members in helping to progress the goals and missions of the HSCF. Jeff has been very involved with the board in different capacities. He currently serves as the HSCF Membership Chairman, Grants Committee Chairman, and is the Board Liaison to the Stag and Dove Society.

He has been a lifelong avid Texas hunter since he was old enough to hold a gun and hit the dove field or sit in a deer stand with his father and grandfather. He recently acquired mountain fever and has been on several mountain hunts of late. He is passionate about protecting hunting rights and is also a life member of several other hunting associations, including SCI, Wild Sheep Foundation, GSCO/Ovis, Rocky Mountain Goat Association, and Alaska Professional Hunters Association. If Jeff isn’t hunting, he is reading, watching, thinking about and/or learning about hunting and how to protect the heritage.

Jeff has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering from Texas A&M and a law degree from South Texas College of Law. He is a registered professional engineer, registered patent attorney, and a licensed attorney with the State Bar of Texas since 1992. After a long legal career with Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, he recently became the General Manager of Licensing for Chevron Phillips.

Jeff has served on several other boards. He was the 2019-20 Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, where he had been a member of the board for many years. He has also been on the boards of the Education for Tomorrow Alliance and Woodlands Bar Association.

DAVID KOCH

David is a sixth generation Texan with deep family roots in Lufkin and Columbus TX. He attended Texas A&M University in College Station receiving a BBA in Finance and a Master of Land Economics & Real Estate. He then moved to Houston and began his career as a multi-family real estate developer working for several national developers building apartments throughout Texas and Colorado. David and his wife Jacque have 4 kids ages 12, 6, 5, and 2…three girls and a boy. The Koch’s live in the Stratford area and are members of Houston’s First Baptist Church.

David has a lifetime passion for hunting, conservation, and preserving family hunting heritage. He grew up chasing deer and ducks along the Neches River outside of Lufkin with his dad and brother Joey. He now spends most of his spare time guiding his kids on hunts at his family ranch in Columbus, TX.

While attending Texas A&M, David started the Texas A&M Ducks Unlimited chapter which grew to be the biggest university chapter in the country. He then was chairman of The Woodlands and Houston DU chapters breaking several national fundraising records. This led to serving on several state and national leadership positions within DU including, University Coordinator, State Campaign Chairman, and the National Event Management Committee which dictates policy and procedures for chapters across the country.

He is also a Region IV Co-Chair for Gear Up for Game Wardens which falls under the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation. Region IV covers Houston and most of southeast Texas. Gear Up provides specialty equipment for Game Wardens such as drones, night-vision, airboats, radios, etc.

David recently served as the Volunteer Coordinator for the 2022 and 2023 Houston Safari Club Foundation Convention. He is looking to continue the Volunteer Coordination position but would like to expand his footprint with HSCF by joining the HSCF Board of Directors.

MATT PYLE

Matt Pyle has been a member of HSCF since 2009 and a Life Member since 2020. He served as President in 2020-2021, Vice President in 2012 and 2013, on the Board of Directors 2013-2020 and is currently serving as the Chairman for the Veteran Outreach program. Matt was the 2013 Convention Chairman, the Convention Corporate Sponsor Chairman in 2012 and 2013, and Co-Chair in 2014 – 2018. He and his wife, Susie, are Gazelles Luncheon and Hunting Awards Sponsors.

In addition to his work with HSCF, Matt is a member of SCI, Life Member of the NRA, member of the Armed Forces Appreciation Committee at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, State Board of Advisors for the US Veterans Initiative and Board Member of Trinity Oaks. Matt served in the US Army as a Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne Division. He is now Vice President of Sales at Able Power Management. He is married to Susie and has three children: Sloan, Stockton, and Sawyer (All three HSCF Members).

Derek Ham is an accomplished businessman with a passion for the outdoors, hunting and conservation. He is especially passionate for getting kids and others involved in hunting and guiding them to understand the link and truth between hunting and conservation. He began his first career in Los Angeles working in the music industry. He later moved back to Texas in support of his family and pursued a career in Commercial Construction. Ultimately, his passion for the outdoors led him to Farm and Ranch Real Estate where he currently represents Ruple Ranch & Land.

Derek’s passion for the outdoors was fostered as young boy by his father who grow up on the famed LX Cattle Ranch in the Texas panhandle. His father set the groundwork for his love of hunting and fishing. Derek has been an avid hunter and conservationist for the majority of his life traveling around the world hunting both unique and more traditional game alike. His most notable hunting accomplishment was being dropped by float plane in Alaska for a week for a self-guided hunt where he harvested the Number 11 all time Pope & Young Moose with his recurve bow. Among other countries, he has also been a successful hunter in New Zealand, Spain, Greenland and Newfoundland.   But, of course, he has and does most prominently hunt in our great state of Texas.

Derek is a Lifetime member Houston Safari Club Foundation where he has chaired the Annual Sporting Clays Event for the last two years raising money for Youth Programs. Prior to his time at HSCF, he chaired the Adventures program for Sky High for Kids where he organized and executed hunts for pediatric cancer patients for over five years.

Derek shares his passion for hunting with his wife Jeni and daughter Sydney. Both of whom have traveled with him on his hunting adventures. He takes care to demonstrate his concern for a healthy wildlife population and ensure that the hunt is more than the harvesting of game but, more importantly, it’s about the experience.

Derek is also a member of the following organizations: TDA, RMEF, NWTF, TTHA, NRA, Sportsman’s Alliance, and Quail Coalition.

Chris Ruhman has been a life member of HSCF since 2010. Chris is a native Houstonian and a former student-athlete at Texas A&M University. After completing his collegiate eligibility, Chris was drafted into the NFL where he spent 5 years as an offensive lineman. After football, he earned his Juris Doctorate and returned to Houston where he entered private practice. Chris has since founded Southern Title, LLC in The Woodlands, serving as the company’s general counsel.

Chris is a Past President of the Texas A&M Lettermen’s Association and a current member of the Association’s Executive Committee. He is active in multiple philanthropic endeavors in Montgomery County including the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation, Children’s Safe Harbor, Habitat for Humanity and the American Heart Association where he has served as Executive Leadership Team Member and Co-Chair of the 2019 Montgomery County Heart Ball Gala.

Chris is married to Sondra and they have one child, MJ (18). The family hunts and shoots together, and they never miss an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Bryan Ray has been a member of the Houston Safari Club since 2017 and became a Life Member in 2018. Since joining HSCF, Bryan has become an active participant and volunteer. Bryan volunteered for the duration of the convention at the 2018, 2019 and 2020 conventions and served as the Games Committee Chair for the 2019 convention. Bryan was also Gazelles Luncheon Sponsor and silent auction donor in 2019. Bryan also volunteered at the 2018 HSCF Sporting Clays Tournament and has assisted where needed whenever asked. At the 2019 convention, Bryan was presented the President’s award for service to HSCF. Bryan served on the Board of Directors from 2021-2023 and currently serves on a Vice President on the Board of Directors for Houston Safari Club Foundation.

A life-long hunter and fisherman, Bryan has been learning from the outdoors since he was a small boy. Bryan is an avid bowhunter and waterfowl hunter, and his two greatest passions are the quiet solitude of the stalk and the raucous calling of the duck blind. Along with HSCF, Bryan is a member of the Texas Wildlife Association, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Safari Club International, the West Texas Chapter of SCI, and the Hill Country Chapter of SCI. As a sixth generation Texan, and son of a retired Texas Ranger, Bryan is also a Texas Ranger Association Foundation benefactor.

Bryan earned two degrees from Texas A&M University where he worked extensively with international agricultural projects. During his Master’s program, Bryan worked as a teaching and research assistant gaining valuable knowledge working with grant proposals and research projects. Bryan works as an agent for Whitetail Properties, specializing in farms, ranches, and recreational properties.

Kevin Ormston is a native Houstonian and has been a member and active volunteer of HSC since 2008 while becoming a Life Member in 2012. He has served on the HSC Board from 2011-2015, 2019-2020, was 2015 Convention Chairman “Where the Wild Things Are”, he was on the HSC Finance Committee from 2011 to 2016, Membership Chairman from 2011 to 2014, Membership Committee member from 2009 to 2010, HSC Silent Auction Committee member in 2012 and Shoot For The Troops Committee member in 2012 and 2013.  He served as President of Houston Safari Club in 2016.  After his president year, Kevin has stayed engaged with club by being elected to the Board of Directors in 2019, and volunteering as the Convention Raffle Chairman from 2017 to 2023.  Most recently Kevin has volunteered on the HSC Grants Committee.  During HSC’s 2020 convention, Kevin was honored to be awarded the “President’s Award” by J.D. Burrows.  During the 2023 HSC Convention, Kevin was honored to receive the Frank Green Award of Commitment.  This is the highest honor one can receive as a volunteer for HSC as voted on by all the Past Presidents.  The Frank Green Award of Commitment and the President’s Award are truly the highlights in Kevin’s “volunteer career” with HSC.

In addition to volunteering, Kevin has supported Houston Safari Club with numerous sponsorships over the years for HSC’s Hunting Awards Program, HSC’s Sporting Clays Tournament, and the Gazelles’ Luncheon.

Kevin’s love for hunting and the outdoors started early when he was 8 years old with his first whitetail buck.  Both grandfathers, his father, and his older brother were all hunters.  Hunting has always been a part of his life.  Kevin strongly supports HSC’s mission in conservation, education, and hunters’ rights.  He is in the construction industry and owns Rummel Creek Builders and Rummel Creek Pools. He has been happily married to Cheryl for over 24 years and has two daughters Kayla (19) and Kendall (16).

MITZY McCORVEY

Mitzy McCorvey has been a member of HSCF since 2002, and became a Life Member in 2010. She was president of HSCF in 2018-2019.  She was a Corporate Sponsor from 2007-2011, has been a Dan L. Duncan Legacy sponsor since 2012, a Gazelle’s Luncheon Sponsor since 2008 as well as donating items to the Gazelle’s live and silent auctions. She has been involved with the Gazelles Luncheon since 2002 and served as Gazelles Luncheon Co-Chair in 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2017.  She received the HSCF President’s Award in 2012. She has participated in HSCF Conventions since 1995, she served as the Convention Chairman for the 2016 Convention.  Mitzy was selected as the 2016 HSCF International Huntress of the Year.   She served as Vice President of HSCF in 2014-2015 and then was elected to the Board of Directors for 2015 thru 2017. She has been Co-Chair of the Decorating Committee for HSCF’s annual convention from 2022 to current.

Mitzy is also a Life Member of SCI, SCI Sables and Houston Livestock & Rodeo. She is a Benefactor Life Member of the NRA.  She was elected to the NRA Board of Directors in 2022 and is currently serving. She served on the Host Committee for the NRA Women’s Leadership Forum in 2013 and 2015 through 2017.  She was appointed to the Executive Committee for the NRA Women’s Leadership Forum in 2016 and is a member of the Leadership Council.  Mitzy has been a member of the HLSR Souvenir Program Committee since 2000, serving as Vice Chair from 2009-2012 and Captain from 2012-2016, and was recipient of HLSR President’s award in 2012.  She is also on the HLSR Scholarship Judging Committee.

She was the Live and Silent Auction coordinator for the Sunshine Kids at HLSR BBQ Cook-Off.  She is also a member of the Texas Deer Association.  She is married to Tony, who is also a Life Member of HSCF, and together they have 5 children and 7 grandchildren. She currently assists in overseeing cattle and deer operations at Rancho de Sueños (the family ranch).

SUZANNE HIXSON

Suzanne is a proud HSCF Life Member. Although she traveled extensively as an observer and photographer on hunts worldwide, Suzanne only took up a rifle later in life and discovered an immediate connection to pursuing prey from the perspective of a hunter.

An ardent believer in the WE HUNT, WE GIVE philosophy, Suzanne and her partner James participate annually in dental and optical clinics in rural Zimbabwe and collaborate with other organizations to promote education and wildlife conservation projects.  Suzanne founded Umtopi, LLC with a goal to provide a market for talented artists and craftsmen from underdeveloped communities to sell their goods.  Her mission is to provide employment opportunities and to re-invest back into those communities.

Suzanne is a native Texan and a graduate of Texas A&M University.  Her career and volunteer history includes working with the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boys Scouts of America, The Montgomery County Cattle Barons Ball, The Houston Methodist Hospital Neurological Institute National Council, and as an ambassador with The Camelthorn Foundation.

Suzanne feels that a primary duty of HSCF board members is to gather feedback and represent the values of our members.  She strongly respects the founders and the mission of our club.  Recognizing the challenges which threaten our lifestyle, Suzanne supports the efforts we have made to recruit and involve members of all ages so that our future as a club and as defenders of our rights as hunters and conservationists continues.
