HOUSTON, TX – January 19, 2026 — Longtime hunting advocate, conservation leader, and former Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) President James Lofton is the featured guest on an upcoming episode of the Hunting Matters podcast, where he shares insights from more than 25 years of service to the hunting and shooting sports community.
James Lofton has spent an embraced life of an outdoorsman his entire life. Taught by his father the value of wildlife, nature, and all God’s creation. His driven passion has led him to be a leader and member of numerous organizations focused on Hunting, Shooting, Outdoors and Conservation. For the last 6 years, James has had the honor of serving on the HSCF Board of Directors in several roles including President, Convention Chairperson and Grants Committee Chairperson and currently serves as the Hunting Awards Chairman. James and his wife Kathryn are avid supporters of the club.
In addition to being a life member of HSCF, he is a Benefactor Member of the NRA, a Life Member of Gun Owners of America, Life Member of the North American Hunting Club, as well as a member of the Congressional Sportsman Foundation and SCI, among others. He has a passion for introducing new hunters to our sport and preserving our hunting and gun rights.
James has a history of volunteering and leading charity events and groups. The last five years he has been a guide to youth hunters through the Texas Youth Hunting program. He was the founder and chairman of the DFW Oilman’s Tactical Shoot from 2009-2017, which donated proceeds to support military and veteran’s groups such as Combat Marine Outdoors. CMO takes purple heart recipients on hunting and fishing trips as part of their recovery process. Sharing a camp with these heroes is one of the highlights of James’ hunting experiences. James also was the Chairman of the Shoot from the Heart Brazos Valley Sporting Clays Tournament from 2004-2007.
After graduating from Texas A&M, James has spent 35 years in the oil and gas industry. He is a managing partner of JAN Resources, LLC, an oilfield service company that specializes in Production, water treating and completion chemicals.
James and his wife Kathryn (also a HSCF Member) are firm believers that the woods, prairies, mountains, lakes, and rivers we enjoy are God’s gift, and we are blessed to get to share the great outdoors with friends, family, and fellow Houston Safari Club members.
