What Should I Pack For My Safari?

May 15, 20260

One of the questions we get asked most often by our future clients is:

“What should I pack for my safari?”

To make your preparation a little easier, we’ve put together a simple packing guide along with the important documentation needed should you decide to bring your own rifle for your hunt with us.

Travel Requirements

Good news — no visa is required for entry into South Africa for many travelers, and no vaccinations or special shots are required for your visit. Please ensure that your passport is valid for travel before departure.

Recommended Safari Gear

As we provide a daily laundry service during your stay, there is no need to overpack clothing.

For comfort and suitability to the bushveld environment, please pack:

  • 3–4 sets of comfortable hunting clothing in neutral colors such as dark brown or dark green hunting shirts and trousers / shorts.
  • Camouflage clothing (legal in South Africa)
  • 1–2 warm jackets for the early mornings and evenings during the winter season
  • Comfortable hunting shoes or boots
  • Socks and underwear

To enhance your safari experience, we recommend bringing the following items as well:

  • Binoculars and camera
  • Torch / flashlight
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Any required medical prescriptions

Our goal is to keep your safari as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, so packing light is absolutely fine.

Bringing Your Rifle

If you plan on bringing your own rifle for your safari, please make sure you travel with the correct documentation.

For American Hunters:

  • CBP 4457 Form
  • Copy of your passport
  • Copy of your flight itinerary/ticket
  • Invitation-to-hunt letter from your hunting outfitter

For European Hunters:

  • European Firearms/Rifle Passport
  • Copy of your passport
  • Police clearance certificate from your local police station
  • Copy of your flight itinerary/ticket
  • Invitation-to-hunt letter from your hunting outfitter

Should you have any questions regarding travel arrangements, packing, firearm permits, or anything else related to your safari, please feel free to contact us at any time. We are always happy to assist and make your safari experience as smooth and memorable as possible.

We look forward to welcoming you to Africa and sharing an unforgettable hunting adventure with you.
