Houston, TX (May 10, 2018) – Houston Safari Club (HSC) continues its support of Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation through a grant of $15,000 to support their incredible efforts to defend hunting, fishing and trapping against lawsuits, legislation and ballot issues initiated by animal rights and anti-hunting organizations. For 40 years, the Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation has been able to achieve a 95% success rate of defeating anti-hunting led initiatives. Houston, TX (May 10, 2018) – Houston Safari Club (HSC) has been honored with a Communicator Award for Design and Print-Marketing/Promotion in the Magazine/Association category. The 24th annual Communicator Awards winners were recently announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. HSC’s Hunter’s Horn received a Communicator Award, Award of Distinction. The Communicator Awards receives over 6,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, making it one of the largest awards of its kind in the world. The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), a 600+ member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.

Houston Safari Club is now an official Partner of the Texas Alliance for America’s Fish & Wildlife and the National Alliance for America’s Fish & Wildlife working to support the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (H.R. 4647). Past presidents are invited to nominate one member for this prestigious award that was established to recognize those extraordinary members of Houston Safari Club, who have given tremendous time and effort for the enhancement and betterment of HSC and its members, over a period exceeding three years.  The award is presented annually at HSC’s Convention. John has served as President, Vice President, Director, Convention Co-Chair, and is currently the Treasurer. John and his wife Melanie continuously work on passing down the hunting tradition to their grandchildren. Houston, TX – Houston Safari Club (HSC) has wrapped up its monumental 2018 Annual Convention and Hunting Expo. This was the inaugural year in downtown Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The exhibitors showcased were nearly double the number versus previous HSC expos.  The banquet events were very popular as well with all being sold out. Friday evening concluded with a concert by The Bellamy Brothers and Saturday night Gala attendees danced their way into Sunday to the sounds of Roger Creager.  Houston Safari Club presented its top annual awards at the banquets. Among them, Peter Tam of Tam Safaris was recognized as the Professional Hunter of the Year. Tristan Pepper was awarded the Youth Hunter of the Year award. Denise Welker was named Huntress of the Year and William “Bill” Newlin was recognized as the Hunter of the Year.
