Houston, TX (April 22, 2019) – Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) is now accepting entries for its annual hunting and photo awards. Winners will be recognized at the HSCF Annual Worldwide Hunting Expo & Convention, January 24-26, 2020.   The HSCF hunting awards celebrate HSCF member experiences and achievements at the annual convention. Winners will be recognized during the Friday night banquet and will be presented with beautiful custom bronze statues. Categories include Youth, Whitetail, International, North America, Archery and Alternative Methods. Entrants must be members of HSCF when the animal is taken. Beginning January 2020, Houston Safari Club Foundation will honor an exceptional champion of conservation through this annual award. The HSCF Conservationist of the Year Award recognizes individuals or organizations exemplifying a true servant’s heart for conservation. Nominees are considered for their works related to education, advocacy, legislation, policy, environmental activities, and the protection and preservation of wildlife and habitat. Nominations may be made by and for individuals or organizations. Houston Safari Club Foundation is committed to furthering the education of students pursuing a career in conservation. Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) proudly presents the Dan L. Duncan Scholarship Program. HSCF annually awards scholarships to students currently involved in the study of Wildlife Management, Range Management or related studies. Since the program’s inception in 1999, 525 scholarships have been awarded, totaling almost $2.25 million dollars. (Houston, TX-February 8, 2019) Houston Safari Club (HSC) is supportive of the nomination of David Bernhardt, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, for the position of Secretary for the Department. In a brief statement posted to Twitter, Bernhardt said it’s “a humbling privilege to be nominated to lead a Department whose mission I love, to accomplish the balanced, common sense vision of our President.” Bernhardt, an attorney from Colorado, has served as the deputy secretary of the Interior Department since August 2017. Before joining the Trump administration, Bernhardt was a lawyer for the Interior Department under President George W. Bush. HSC President, Mitzy McCorvey states, “I would like to congratulate and support Deputy Secretary David Bernhardt for his nomination for Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior. He is in sync with ideas that we, as conservationists and sport hunters, would like to see going forward.

(Houston, TX-February 6, 2019) – Houston Safari Club Foundation (HSCF) has completed another successful annual Hunting Expo and Convention. HSCF’s annual Convention was held January 25-27, 2019 at the George R Brown Convention Center and Hilton Americas-Houston hotel. Complete with banquets, auctions, raffles and live entertainment, the event is HSCF’s largest annual fundraiser. With almost 300 exhibitors, the Expo has doubled in size in just two years. In addition, all three fundraising banquets were at capacity. Funds raised at Convention support HSCF’s scholarship, youth education and grants programs. Jeff Birmingham, 2019 HSCF Convention Chairman states, “The 2019 Convention, themed Foundation For Tomorrow, was a great success.
