Writing What You Know

  • A major piece of 2019’s True Believer focuses on Carr’s protagonist in Mozambique helping shut down a poaching ring that has ties to terrorists. Much of what he wrote about is based on his own experience in the Northern Cape of South Africa where he travels to teach an anti-poaching unit on weapons handling and running small tactical units using the skills he learned as a SEAL.
  • Parts of Savage Son are set in Siberia. This past year, Carr left all his electronic devices at home for security purposes and traveled there with nothing but a satellite phone to get a lay of the land, the sights, the sounds, smells and tastes in order to properly describe the Russian territory.

A Dream Stream Team

  • Chris Pratt (Parks & Rec, Guardians of the Galaxy) recently announced to star in and executive produce The Terminal List, a TV series based on Jack Carr’s first book.

On The Home Front

  • Carr’s middle child is a special needs child with a very rare condition. It took 8 years for the family to figure out what was wrong with him and it wasn’t until the recently departed Ross Perot heard about their struggle and gathered a team of the world’s best doctors to step in, that they finally got a diagnosis.

Carr Gives Back

  • In December, Carr launched The Jack Carr Collection, a line of branded apparel and accessories from which 100% of the profits are sent to these veteran related charities that he has a personal connection to: Valor for Life, The National Ability Center, Rescue 22, SOC-F, The Brain Treatment Foundation, Big Hearts Under the Big Sky. More information about these organizations can be found at bit.ly/CarrCharity.
  • Carr donated one of his uniforms to the veteran owned business Eagles and Angels who repurpose them into hats and belt buckles for sale to support organizations of the veteran’s choice. His proceeds went to the above mentioned National Ability Center—a Park City, UT organization that helps veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury, PTSD, amputations, and people of all ages and backgrounds and abilities, including his son. The cast of CBS’s SEAL TEAM have worn the Jack Carr hats on the show!
  • Jack Carr is also an ambassador for the above mentioned Rescue 22 Foundation. The Rescue 22 Foundation provides fully trained service and support dogs to veterans of our Armed Forces suffering from PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury, and the physical and emotional trauma of the battlefield. Rescue 22 was founded to address the staggering crisis of veteran suicide. The “22” denotes the number of veterans taking their own lives each day in the United States.  Jack was introduced to Rescue 22 by a SEAL Teammate and dog handler who is training a service dog for Jack’s special needs child.
