Houston Safari Club 2016 Annual Convention & Worldwide Hunting Expo Commitment to Tomorrow a Great Success

CaptureHouston, TX – The Houston Safari Club’s (HSC) Annual Convention and Worldwide Hunting Expo, Commitment to Tomorrow, was a great success concluding on January 17, 2016 with the largest number of exhibitors to date.

HSC’s annual convention showcases wildlife, wild places and the sporting lifestyle for thousands of visitors and exhibitors from around the globe. The three-day long exposition featured hundreds of hunting, gear and luxury exhibits from South Texas to South Africa and everywhere in between. This year’s event featured the largest number of exhibits to date, and included the annual Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience with over 125 area high school students.

“We received positive feedback from new and returning vendors.  The majority of new vendors we spoke with, who were in the new additional space upstairs, responded favorably and were very glad to be able to exhibit in the show,” said HSC Convention Co-Chairman Mitzy McCorvey. “Anna and I cannot thank all the volunteers enough for making this a great, successful convention.”

Evening banquets and auctions served as wonderful occasions for celebrating all things HSC. Several key decision makers in the outdoor world attended this year’s events including, Sportsmen’s Alliance Interim President Evan Heusinkveld, Sportsmen’s Alliance VP of Membership and Development Sean Curran, NRA Foundation Executive Director Wayne Sheets, NRA President Allan Cors, Conservation Force Chairman John Jackson, Texas Wildlife Association President David Yeates, Texas Park and Wildlife Department’s Deputy Executive Director of Natural Resources Ross Melinchuk, Dallas Safari Club President Karl Evans, Dallas Safari Club Secretary Rebecca Evans, and Safari Club International President Larry Higgins.

HSC would like to thank Sonic Automotive, Enterprise Products, Capital Farm Credit, S&B Engineers and Constructors, Ltd., Silver Eagle Distributors, Carter’s Country, Safari Specialty Importers and all of our convention, award and scholarship sponsors for their generous support of the 2016 Convention.

HSC President Kevin Ormstom comments, “Commitment to Tomorrow was an excellent convention and I am so happy to hear all the positive feedback we have received.  The very positive results from the Gala, the hunting awards, the Gazelles luncheon, sponsors, volunteers, and exhibitors all made for a very fun weekend all the while raising the funds necessary to support HSC’s mission statement.  I truly appreciate everyone involved in making it happen.”

The 2017 Annual Worldwide Hunting Expo and Convention will take place January 13-15, 2017 in The Woodlands, Texas at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott.

Proceeds from HSC’s annual convention go towards fulfilling HSC’s mission of preserving the sport of hunting through education, conservation and the protection of hunters’ rights.
