Fly Fishing Presentation by Heather Bond

Heather Bond (Seitz) has had a passion for fly fishing since she was 4 years old. Learning the sport from her father, it quickly became a staple of her youth. At the age of 14, she started guiding and managing a fly fishing shop in State College, PA. From there at age 17, she was asked to try out for the US Youth National Fly Fishing Team where she became the first and only female to date to make the cut. Additionally, she was named Captain and placed in the top 20 at the International Competition. Following such a wonderful experience she began competing within the adult league as one of only 3 females participating in the country and placed 5th in the North East Division.

After graduating High School, Heather was offered a position guiding for Atlantic Salmon on the world famous Ponoi River in Russia. The second female guide ever hired, she enjoyed several seasons in the tundra. During the off season, Heather attended the University of Pittsburgh and toured the USA giving presentations and demonstrations at various clubs and conventions. Seeking more opportunities to share her love of fly fishing, she aided in setting up and running charity fly fishing events benefiting youth and wounded military.

Currently, Heather resides in Houston Texas and is a wife to David and Mother to two children, Alexander (4) and Madelyn (2).

Casting Instructions with Heather Bond (Seitz) and Stacy Lynn

The sport of Fly Fishing has been central in Stacy’s life since 1995. Stacy has worked in Central Texas’ best fly shops since that time and is an avid saltwater and freshwater angler. She has 20+ years as a professional casting coach and is a Fly Fishers Intl. Certified Casting Instructor and a graduate of Joan Wulff’s Fly Fishing Instructor’s School. She is an active supporter and member of many of the Texas fly fishing clubs and related organizations. She is a volunteer Lead Instructor for Texas’ Casting for Recovery program – a weekend fly fishing retreat for women surviving breast cancer – and has been a co-organizer for the Lydia Ann Fly Master’s saltwater fly fishing tournament benefiting CFR. She has been a feature speaker, demonstrator and instructor at numerous events including The Fly Fishing Show, The Shallow Water Show, Fly Fish Texas, Flat Out Fishing!, TPWD Expo, Oktoberfisch, the Houston Fishing Show, Texas Fly Fishing and Brew Fest, and several FFF Conclaves/Fairs. Stacy co-founded, opened, and worked as the General Manager of Bayou City Angler, the only full-service fly fishing specialty shop in Houston, Texas. Her favorite fly fishing endeavor to date is sight casting in saltwater, especially to Redfish, Tarpon and Permit, and her instruction specialties are conducting casting diagnostics, and helping fly casters prepare for the challenging and exciting Saltwater Fly Fishing experience.

Enjoy Lunch from Houston’s Own Kelli Prescott

Kelli Prescott is an upcoming Houston chef with a passion for fly fishing. Kelli currently works as the Food Editor for Tail Fly Fishing Magazine where she features her recipes in each issue. She is also the butcher at Heights Bier Garden in the Houston heights where she creates all in-house sausages, bacon, charcuterie and other cured meats.

From an early age Kelli has been in love with nature and spending time next to it – she is able to find purpose and peace with fly rod in hand. Kelli spends her time off writing and traveling as much as she can, and checking new species off of her “to catch” list.
