Kevin Ormston is a native Houstonian and has been a member and active volunteer of HSC since 2008 while becoming a Life Member in 2012. He has served on the HSC Board from 2011-2015, 2019-2020, was 2015 Convention Chairman “Where the Wild Things Are”, he was on the HSC Finance Committee from 2011 to 2016, Membership Chairman from 2011 to 2014, Membership Committee member from 2009 to 2010, HSC Silent Auction Committee member in 2012 and Shoot For The Troops Committee member in 2012 and 2013.  He served as President of Houston Safari Club in 2016.  After his president year, Kevin has stayed engaged with club by being elected to the Board of Directors in 2019, and volunteering as the Convention Raffle Chairman from 2017 to 2023.  Most recently Kevin has volunteered on the HSC Grants Committee.  During HSC’s 2020 convention, Kevin was honored to be awarded the “President’s Award” by J.D. Burrows.  During the 2023 HSC Convention, Kevin was honored to receive the Frank Green Award of Commitment.  This is the highest honor one can receive as a volunteer for HSC as voted on by all the Past Presidents.  The Frank Green Award of Commitment and the President’s Award are truly the highlights in Kevin’s “volunteer career” with HSC.

In addition to volunteering, Kevin has supported Houston Safari Club with numerous sponsorships over the years for HSC’s Hunting Awards Program, HSC’s Sporting Clays Tournament, and the Gazelles’ Luncheon.

Kevin’s love for hunting and the outdoors started early when he was 8 years old with his first whitetail buck.  Both grandfathers, his father, and his older brother were all hunters.  Hunting has always been a part of his life.  Kevin strongly supports HSC’s mission in conservation, education, and hunters’ rights.  He is in the construction industry and owns Rummel Creek Builders and Rummel Creek Pools. He has been happily married to Cheryl for over 24 years and has two daughters Kayla (19) and Kendall (16).
